Carolinas Communication Association (CCA)

Conference 2006

September 15 - 16, 2006

Charleston, SC

 

This year's theme was "Communication, Culture & Common Ground".  We stayed at the Embassy Suites or thereabouts in downtown Historic Charleston.

 

Our President was Carol Leeman (UNCC), Celeste LaCroix (CofC) was our 1st Vice President with Mônica Pombo (Appalachian State) our 2nd Vice President, Kelli Fellows (Appalachian State) as our Secretary, Charmaine Wilson (USC-Aiken), Robert Westerfelhaus (CofC) as Annual Editor, and Elena Martínez-Vidal (MTC) as web manager.

Our key speaker was Dr. Ronald L. Jackson II from Pennsylvania State University speaking on “Where We Must Go From Here: Issuing a Charge to the Field of Communication”
Jason Munsell (Columbia College) was voted in as 2007 2nd Vice President.
Dan Grano (UNC-C) was voted in as 2007 Annual Editor.
Janay Knight from UNC-Greensboro won the Mary E. Jarrard prize for her undergraduate paper.
Korrie Bauman from UNC-Greensboro won the Mary E. Jarrard prize for her Graduate paper.
Jason Edward Black the University of Alabama won the Ray Camp award for his paper.
Charmaine Wilson from USC Aiken won the Betty Jo Welch award.
